    Ok, first, download paint.net from http://www.getpaint.net
    Next, download a plugin called alpha mask here : http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/1854-alpha-mask-import-plugin-20/ and install it.
    Then, go to "Effects" - "Alpha mask" and check the boxes with "Invert mask", "Mix alpha" and "Copy from clipboard"
    You're done! Yea I was like WTF? When I tried this too. No more stupid "fuzzy select tool" for me Very Happy

    Wow, paint.net makes it really easy to remove the white. But most of the graphivs that I make doesen't have a transperant background. This qould really help others though.

    Another killer image related software. I loved it and so I will bookmark it for use whenever required. Good thing about that is its free version.

    I am really learning after reading the post here. Removing white never even thought that it was a problem before reading this. Got to say really good share this will be going into my book marks when i decide to get serious about designing.
