Good graphics or gameplay?

Ok, so I'm wondering. What is more important? Please post all your oppinions

Good gameplay is way more important than good graphics. However, video game designers spend alot of time on the graphics of the game as it helps alot with the marketing of the product.
Just my two cents

Wow I never thought about that. I guess that graphics really do play a HUGE part of the marketing of a game. However, I still think that gameplay is more important. I would even prefer to have bad graphics if good graphics would cause me to lag.

Obviously gameplay's more important. Who in their right mind would sacrifice gameplay for graphics.

Agree with PickMeDown answer that good game play is important.

Game play will be a major factor when it comes down to serious gamers. For those that just want things that look cool. Those people will most likely forget the game at the end of the day.

What looks cool right now might not work out so well in games as well. Take for example Alpha Protocol, some features look good like the screen changing color when you are using a skill. However, that "cool" feature has totally overpowered the most important thing in a FPS which is the aiming recital.

My vote will go to game play if it is that good, it will withstand the test of time and graphics.

GamePlay is proven to be the better victor to this. Even to the present. Minecraft is a HUGE proof to this. One of the worst graphics, It is pixelated, but because it is made for that, the gameplay is amazing People play it.

My favorite game in the world is FF2/4 (United states FF2, EVERYWHERE else FF4) It is a SNES game, and the gameplay is amazing.

N64 is one of the most popular gamesystems even today, You will see a lot of people with either a N64 emulator or SNES emulator on their computer. Mainly because they have amazing games with amazing gameplay, but poor, poor graphics.

FF2 as in Final Fantasy? Final Fantasy is awesome. I actually still play it on my gameboy. That's right, GAMEBOY. None of that DS crap.

I have yellow, crystal, blue, green (cannot understand it)and gold on my Ipod. But i have the legit original copy of silver I had since the first day it came out. Crystal is my favorite of them all though.

1st Gen = love
2nd Gen = the best
3rd&4th Gen = decent, but retarded-looking pokemon
5th Gen = pretty cool

Sapphire is honestly my favorite pokemon game of all time, aside from crystal.

i think saphire was kinda lame.
it was definitely the second easiest elite-4 wise. all you needed was kyogre and any other high level pokemon

OT: i think the two are both mandatory. a mixture of visuals and gameplay make for a perfect game. (looking forward to Soul Calibur V: it's graphics are amazing and its gameplay looks quite promising)

I've never actually played soul calibur. What's your favourote pokemon version? Mines emarald.

what is it about?

it's a fighting game.
the story has very little importance, it takes under 10 minutes to beat the story with 1 character, but it's basically about an evil sword that corrupts its user, the Soul Edge, and another sword that is used for good, the Soul Calibur. each of the characters have their own agenda. they usually either try to steal one of the swords or destroy soul edge or soul calibur.

10 mins? I don't think I'll bother to try it then. I prefer games that takes time to complete. Kinda like the rubicks cube. Takes forever to solve.

fighting games aren't about the story, they're about multiplayer.
